HEALTH CS NAKHUMICHA S. WAFULA LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE HEALTH FACILITY ASSESSMENT REPORT

Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula has earlier today launched the 2023 Kenya Health Facility Census Report, in collaboration with multiple sectors and partners. The report's data aims to restructure health policies, emphasizing the important role of quality healthcare in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking during the launch, CS Nakhumicha noted that economic gains the country has made over the past years can be reversed by reducing healthcare costs and stressed the importance of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for sustainable economic development. The census focused on the assessment of infrastructure, readiness of healthcare facilities' and the availability of services countrywide. Hon. Nakhumicha further emphasized the role of the report in guiding investments in addressing the challenges facing the healthcare system.
Hon. Nakhumicha also indicated that she is proud to change the law for the purposes of proving healthcare services in the country, adding that the report is a clear indication of the source of the problem and that she is confident that a solution will be found.
"I'm more proud that indeed we change the laws to provide healthcare in this country. The beginning of finding a solution is knowing and acknowledging the problem, which this report is a clear indication of where the problem is and therefore i am confident that we are going to find a solution."
CS Nakhumicha further highlighted Kenya's healthcare strides, yet identified persistent challenges, reaffirming the government's commitment to UHC as a crucial economic pillar. The CS urged unified efforts to enhance healthcare delivery, stressing partnerships, and collaborative action. The report's insights will guide targeted investments, fortify quality healthcare delivery, and propel Kenya's UHC journey, with the Ministry pledging cooperation for implementation.
CS Nakhumicha was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Mary Muthoni and Harry Kimtai, alongside Acting Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth.
