Vision 100 Unveiled in Nairobi as Global Leaders Champion Community Empowerment

By Steve El Sabai

Global leaders, policymakers and development partners convened in Nairobi for the Global Trustee Rotary International Forum, where Vision 100, a long term initiative aimed at fostering a century of community empowerment and global unity, was officially unveiled.
The high level forum brought together the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, who attended as the Chief Guest, Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale, alongside leaders from government, civil society and the private sector.

Convened by the International Memon Organization (IMO), the meeting was held under the theme Inspiring Progress and Preserving Tradition, underscoring the need to balance cultural heritage with inclusive and sustainable development.
Key discussions at the forum centred on critical pillars of societal progress including healthcare, housing, education, culture, community empowerment and sustainable economic growth across generations. Participants emphasized the importance of purposeful development initiatives that deliver long lasting impact while strengthening unity within communities.

In remarks delivered during the event, strong emphasis was placed on healthcare as a cornerstone of sustainable development. Vision 100 was commended for placing health at the centre of its agenda, a priority that closely aligns with the government’s focus on preventive care, early screening for non communicable diseases, mental health support and protecting households from catastrophic health expenses.

The initiative was further noted to be well aligned with the national health agenda, anchored on Universal Health Coverage and the strengthening of primary healthcare systems. The government reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships that move beyond policy formulation to deliver meaningful and measurable impact at the community level.
Attention was also drawn to the 5th Administration’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, particularly ongoing health sector reforms being implemented through the Social Health Authority. These reforms aim to expand access to affordable, equitable and quality healthcare services for all Kenyans.

IMO East Africa was congratulated on reaching this significant milestone, with assurances of continued collaboration between the Ministry and institutions dedicated to people centred and forward looking development.

The event was hosted by IMO leadership, including Shahid Yakub, Vice President of the East Africa Chapter, and was graced by Shemir Yakub, Global Deputy President. Among those in attendance were Members of Parliament Hon. Shakeel Shabir of Kisumu East and Hon. Rahim Dawood of North Imenti, alongside other dignitaries and industry leaders.
