The New Generation TotalEnergies Card is designed to give customers greater visibility of transactions, tighter control of expenditure and more secure payment options across the company's service station network.
The launch marks another stage in the evolution of a product that has served Kenyan motorists for more than two decades, having started as the Bon Voyage Fuel Card before developing into a wider mobility solution.
TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Managing Director Thibault Flichy said changing business needs had increased demand for technology that can help companies monitor and control fuel expenditure.
He said the new card brings payment, transaction monitoring and tax-compliant invoicing into one platform, giving businesses tools to improve cost management and operational efficiency.
Among the key changes is the introduction of Mobility Pay, a mobile application that allows customers to make payments digitally, as well as a virtual card using one-time passwords for customers whose phones may not have internet connectivity.
The platform will also provide real-time SMS and email alerts on transactions and unusual activity, allowing fleet managers and account holders to identify and respond to transactions more quickly.
An upgraded customer portal will provide real-time visibility of accounts and allow users to set transaction limits, while a pre-authorisation function will provide additional control over fuel dispensing at service stations.
Security has also been strengthened through the use of PINs, RFID vehicle tags and one-time passwords for the mobile application and virtual card.
The company said the solution would also simplify invoicing by providing tax-compliant documentation, while customers will be able to use the card across the TotalEnergies station network for available products and services.
TotalEnergies said the cardless options could help customers reduce reliance on physical plastic cards while providing a more convenient and flexible way of managing mobility payments.
The company's original Bon Voyage Fuel Card was introduced more than 25 years ago and was the first fuel card in Kenya, with chip technology among its early security features.
The latest upgrade reflects the company's push to respond to changing mobility and payment needs while supporting businesses and individuals seeking more efficient ways to manage transport-related expenditure.
Customers can apply for the New Generation TotalEnergies Card through the TotalEnergies Kenya website, while matatu and boda boda operators can apply directly at TotalEnergies service stations countrywide.
