The African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD) Marks its 20th Anniversary

Nairobi, Kenya – Today , the African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD) marked its 20th anniversary on September 20, 2024, at a ceremony that highlighted the organization’s impact on health initiatives across the continent. The event, attended by prominent figures from both government and civil society.

Mary Muthoni Muriuki, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, conveyed the government’s commitment to shaping exemplary healthcare policies in collaboration with county governments and international partners.

Since its inception, AIHD has dedicated itself to transforming communities by employing evidence-based programming, conducting pivotal research, and advocating for health policies that respond to the unique needs of African populations. Its initiatives have reached millions, ensuring that health and development programs are not only effective but sustainable.

Dr. Patrick Amoth, the Director General for Health, joined Muthoni on stage, underscoring the importance of AIHD's contributions and the collaborative efforts needed to continue advancing public health in Kenya. The event also featured remarks from AIHD founder Dr. Mary Amuyunzu Nyamongo and Executive Director Alice Sinkeet, who reiterated the institute's long-standing commitment to health equity and community empowerment.
