President William Ruto today officially commissioned the newly constructed Kisumu West Sub-County Police Headquarters in Otonglo, marking a major milestone in efforts to boost law enforcement infrastructure and curb rising security concerns across Kisumu County.
The modern facility, located at the heart of the rapidly expanding Otonglo commercial and residential hub, resolves a decades-long security demand dating back to local development plans from the 1990s. The new command center will serve as the primary operational base for Kisumu West, bringing critical policing services closer to residents while reducing response times to security incidents.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Ruto emphasized the national government's commitment to protecting citizens, maintaining law and order, and fostering economic growth in the Nyanza region. Those bent on causing chaos, violence, or instability in our country will have no space," President Ruto declared during the launch. "Our focus remains firmly on peace, stability, unity, and economic empowerment for all Kenyans."
The launch of the sub-county headquarters is part of a broader development itinerary undertaken by the President in Nyanza. Beyond security infrastructure, the administration highlighted accompanying investments in the region's transport network, including allocations totaling KSh 23 billion for 270 kilometers of new roads throughout Kisumu County.

Senior government officials, led by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and local administration leaders, attended the event alongside hundreds of local residents. Community members welcomed the new headquarters, noting that enhanced police presence in Otonglo will play a decisive role in deterring criminal activity and safeguarding commercial investments along the busy Kisumu-Busia corridor.

With full operations now underway at the Otonglo headquarters, local security teams are expected to scale up patrols and expand community-policing initiatives across the constituency.
