After nearly 20 years of earning a living on the road, 47-year-old Peter Mwaniki is preparing for a different future after emerging as the latest KES 102 million SportPesa Mega Jackpot winner.

The father of four secured the grand prize after correctly predicting the outcomes of all 15 football matches in the 15/15 Mega Jackpot draw held last Sunday, becoming the first person this year to claim the top prize.
Interestingly, Mwaniki was unaware that he had won until SportPesa contacted him with the news, turning what had been an ordinary Sunday football prediction into an unexpected financial breakthrough.
For a man who has spent much of his adult life working as a truck driver to support his family, the KES 102 million windfall presents an opportunity to reconsider his priorities and give his wife and four children greater financial security.
Speaking during his unveiling, Mwaniki said providing for his family remained his immediate priority, adding that the money would help him secure opportunities for his children that his years of working had not always made possible.
He described the win as something he had never anticipated, considering the demands of his profession and the years he had dedicated to making ends meet.
"I have spent most of my adult life working hard to provide for my family, so this is something I never imagined would happen. My first thoughts were about my wife and children. I want them to have opportunities that perhaps I could not always afford to give them, and to know that their future is more secure," he said.
Mwaniki explained that the prize would also allow his family to make important long-term decisions without the financial pressures they had previously faced.
However, the unexpected fortune will not immediately bring his trucking career to an end. Mwaniki said he intended to continue working for at least five more months as he takes time to determine how best to use the money.
He cautioned against making hurried decisions, noting that the win had come as a surprise and required careful consideration before making significant changes to his life.
"I don't have any immediate plans. This came as a surprise, and I don't want to make any rushed decisions. I'll continue with my day-to-day job for at least the next five months as I take time to consider my next course of action," he added.
SportPesa Head of Marketing Esther Kange'the said the win was a significant moment for the company's Mega Jackpot, describing Mwaniki's experience as a reminder of the different personal stories behind the competition.
She noted that the prize carried particular significance for Mwaniki because of the years he had spent working to provide for his family, expressing hope that the windfall would create lasting benefits for his household.
"Every jackpot winner has a unique story, and Peter's is particularly special. Behind the KES 102 million prize is a father who has spent years working to provide for his family. We recognise what this moment means to him and those who depend on him," Kange'the said.
She added that the Mega Jackpot remained one of SportPesa's flagship products, congratulating Mwaniki on his achievement and wishing him and his family well as they begin a new chapter.
The unveiling also recognised two other winners, Caroline Nyakundi and Gaudencia Sella, who received KES 2.19 million and KES 3.5 million respectively through the Mega Jackpot bonus categories.
Their recognition demonstrated the additional rewards available within the competition, which offers participants different prize opportunities based on their football predictions.
